I still have the slightly revised first edition 4/5(6). There is nothing "foundational" about the material presented in this book. It is not chemistry from first principles. Rather, it presents chemistry in terms of rote memorization in a far too dry and syntactic way.
There is very little semantic meaning in this book, as it lacks application context to make the material relevant/5(7).
